Mobile Truck Welding & Fabrication — Frame, Brackets, Bumpers

Based in Russellville, KY · 75-mile radius

What we cover

  • Cracked brackets, mounts, and hangers (cab, transmission, exhaust, hydraulic)
  • Bumper, step, and fuel-tank-strap repairs
  • Fabrication of replacement brackets when OEM parts are obsolete
  • Frame welding when allowed by OEM and FMCSA guidance
  • Aluminum welding for fuel tanks, intercooler piping, and accessories
  • Exhaust system fabrication and repair

How we handle it

We don't weld a frame and tell you it's safe when it isn't. Some manufacturers explicitly prohibit field welding on a frame rail — those frames have to be replaced or the truck has to come off the road. We know which engines, which model years, and which OEMs allow what. We'll show you the OEM service-bulletin language before we touch the truck if there's any question. For bracket and mount work the standards are simpler: weld it like the OEM made it, paint it, done. Aluminum welding is its own discipline and we treat it that way — the right rod, the right shielding gas, and a clean prep.

Parts & warranty

Steel, stainless, and aluminum filler stock on the truck. Specific OEM-spec brackets sourced through the local parts network or fabricated to spec. Warranty on the weld: if it cracks back at the same joint, we come back and fix it. We don't warranty a weld where the underlying problem is something we recommended replacing.

Frequently asked

Can you weld my frame?
Depends on the OEM and the location of the crack. Freightliner and Peterbilt have specific service-bulletin guidance on frame welding. Some cracks are field-repairable, some require a frame swap. We'll tell you which yours is before we strike an arc.
How long does a typical bracket weld take?
Most cracked-bracket repairs are 1–2 hours on-site including prep, weld, and paint. Fabrication of a replacement bracket from scratch is 2–4 hours depending on complexity.
Do you do aluminum tanks?
Yes. Aluminum tank repairs are common — saddle-tank straps wear, mounting brackets crack, and the tanks themselves take road-debris hits. We TIG aluminum on-site.
What if my insurance is paying for the weld?
We document with photos before, during, and after the weld, and provide a detailed invoice. Most fleet and trucker insurance accepts that. If they need anything specific, tell us up front.

  • “Brennan was great — absolutely hire this guy. I own a local tree company in Goodlettsville and one of my work trucks broke down at short notice. He was able to get there within a day or two and diagnose it. My turbo went out on one of my vehicles — when I went to the dealership they told me the wait time was forever and the process would include taking the cab off, which wouldn't work well with my current setup. Within one day he was able to replace my turbo and get it running so I could get back in business. The job was really labor-intensive but he made quick work of it and it runs even better than it did before. He's now the main guy I go to.”

  • “We've used Blacktop Mobile Repair twice this month, and both experiences have been nothing short of amazing. They run a top-notch operation, and it really shows in the quality of service and professionalism they provide. Jacob, the service tech, went above and beyond to make sure our truck was taken care of. He even drove out of his way to make sure he had the exact part needed to fix the truck and get us back on the road quickly. That level of dedication and commitment is hard to find. As a trucking company, downtime is costly, and having a team like Brennan and Jacob we can rely on makes all the difference.”

  • “I've used these guys in the past for an air compressor installation. Jacob was great. And recently my alternator quit on the weekend. I called Jacob on a Saturday and he helped me find one that I could pick up myself. Both times Jacob was knowledgeable & fair. A few months later — again on a Saturday — I wasn't even in their area and I called again to get troubleshooting advice. They are very good at diagnosing. Was able to pinpoint the trouble. Thanks again guys!”
