How we handle it

Electrical diagnosis starts with the right tool. We carry OEM-quality scan tools for the five major engine makers so we're not guessing at codes through a generic reader. We test connections with proper meters, not test lights. We follow the circuit from end to end — power, signal, ground — and find the actual fault. When the fault is wiring damage (rodent chew, chafing, corrosion at a connector) we repair to OEM standard: solder and heat-shrink, not crimp connectors. Code-driven diagnosis means we don't replace expensive parts on guesses.

Parts & warranty

Batteries from Interstate or Deka Heavy Duty. Alternators OEM or quality aftermarket (Bosch, Delco). Starters OEM. Wire from Allied Wire or Belden in the gauges and temperature ratings the application calls for. Connectors Deutsch or Packard to OEM spec. 1-year parts-and-labor warranty.

Frequently asked

My truck won't start. Is it the starter or the batteries?
Easy to tell. A load test on the batteries tells us whether they have the cold-cranking amps to spin the starter. A voltage-drop test on the starter cables tells us whether the power is getting through. We test both, then we know.
Why does my check engine light come on and go off?
Intermittent codes usually mean a sensor circuit going in and out — bad connection at the sensor, harness damage, or a sensor that's marginal. The scan tool captures the fault snapshot when the code sets and we work backward from there.
Can you reprogram my ECU?
Some — depends on the authorization scope. OEM-required flash updates we can do for Cummins (with INSITE access) and Detroit (with DiagnosticLink). Performance reprogramming we don't do (see Diesel Tuning & Emissions Repair).
My alternator is bad — can you replace it roadside?
Yes, alternator replacement is one of the most common roadside calls we get. Most engines have the alternator accessible enough to swap in 1–2 hours on the shoulder.
