Symptoms we look for
- · Engine running rough at idle
- · Regen fan spinning hard for long stretches
- · Check engine light + derate indicator
- · DPF light steady or flashing
- · DEF light steady
- · White-ish smoke under load (EGR cooler internal leak)
- · Coolant loss without external leak (EGR cooler)
- · Hot exhaust smell from a slow regen
- · Sweet coolant smell from EGR cooler leak
What we cover
- Forced DPF regeneration (parked regen)
- DPF cleaning (back-pressure verification, off-truck thermal cleaning when needed)
- DOC (Diesel Oxidation Catalyst) inspection and replacement
- SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) catalyst service and replacement
- EGR cooler replacement (high-frequency failure across major engine families)
- EGR valve cleaning and replacement
- DEF doser injector replacement
- DEF pump replacement
- DEF tank heater and quality sensor service
- NOx sensor diagnosis (inlet and outlet) and replacement
- Aftertreatment harness and connector repair
- Emissions system delete service for off-road and non-highway applications
How we handle it
When a truck derates we plug in the scan tool and pull the inducement: which sensor, which threshold, which code. Most derates are one stuck part away from clearing. We confirm the failure, fix it, run the truck through a parked regen if needed, and verify the inducement cycle clears cleanly. We don't replace expensive sensors on guesses. NOx sensors are $700–$900 parts — we test the sensor and the circuit before we throw one in.
Parts & warranty
EGR coolers OEM (the gasket is what's failing on most replacements; aftermarket EGR coolers don't seat right on many engine families). DEF injectors and pumps OEM. NOx sensors OEM (the aftermarket ones we've tried come back with the same code). DPFs OEM or quality aftermarket when the cost differential justifies it. 1-year parts-and-labor.
